My 4Runner got Bent Up!

Went up to Sac today to have AJ build me a front bumper and some sliders! Highly recommend him - BentUp.com. Awesome work, prices are reasonable, and he built it just the way I wanted it! Thanks again AJ. Pics below.

I'm gonna pull the bumper off later today (monday) to paint it and put some hella 500's on..... I want a wide spread down low so does that mean I should go with the 500 series white fog lights? I believe the 'Fog' pattern is wide and the 'Driving' is more of a spot. Am I correct?

Good looking gear.
I have AJ's sliderz too.

If you want a wider beam, you could go with the fogs and mount them low, but you will get more output out of the driving lamps.

Here is a good chart with the beams.

The bumper and sliders look nice.

While he may do great work, not wearing safety glasses while grinding or using a chop saw is a VERY bad idea.

Yeah, there's nothing quite like having a piece of burning metal fly into your eye...
As a young, cocky steel framer, I found out the hard way...

Safety glasses aren't enough, won't really help if the grinder kicks - it will go through it like buttah. Full face shield is required ... there's pictures of me somewhere on here after a close encounter with the grinder. 19 stitches to cheek and nose.

That's some nice looking stuff there. The dogs even look impressed.

I'd agree with the unsafe practices, but might be more concerned with what the heck he is eating.

My Metabo has a clutch and clutches instead of kicking but I wear a face shield regardless for most grinding. Any other grinder but a Metabo is crap by comparison IMO. Proper grinding positioning and not putting yourself or body parts in the grinders kick pathway in the first place are the best way to avoid what happened to you.

Now if I could just find some plate mail gloves that fit as my hands have more nicks than Edward Scissorhands.

Still nice work and sorry for the hi jack but you can never be TOO safe.

Be careful out there.

They served up a BBQ feast. The chicken was awesome.

Agreed totally! I've had enough stray peices of steel in my eye's I could have started my own scrap yard.

I finally learned, wear safety glasses, face sheild, period.

Hey, mind me asking what sort of prices you paid?

Everything looks great, and it being local is a major plus.

AJ is very reasonable! I had to get it adjusted for the body lift and also had the front hitch installed and all told it cost less than an ARB bumper. Sliders were a very good price as well and because I had 2 things done at the same time, they gave me 10% off which was actually the selling point. I was originally just gonna spend the money on the front bumper.

His prices are on his website: www.bentup.com

heh, I did check out the site after I posted that. But it's good to hear that everything is within reason. I guess you wouldn't have the parts if it wasn't.

All told, I spent under a grand for the work done at his shop... which was my budget. That included the cans of spray paint and the Hella's.

Thanks. I'm diggen' the look and the protection. Gonna put the bumper and sliders to the test for the first time this weekend!
