more mpg w/locking hubs on 98 4r ?

1st yota purchase. 98 runner. can i put locking hubs on to increase mpg. are asian better than warn?. any low buck leads? thanks dmcdano

Nobody has ever shown me a data set where I could statistically say manual hubs helped mileage. There is enough variation tank - to - tank in real world driving that it's not right to just compare the tank before the swap to the tank after the swap for example.

It costs about $1000 to swap your '98 over to manual hubs BTW. You have to convert the front end from semi-float to full float.

there are some good reasons to switch to manual hubs (CV wear, trail breakage options, etc) but gas mileage isn't one of them...
