Modified Quick Release Door hinge Idea

I was cleaning up an extra door and was looking at the hinges and got to thinking....what if I did this:

cut out a strip on the hinge that would allow a poor man's quick change hinge (kind of a tweek on stub's idea on pirate):
stock upper P/S hinge on left, modified upper p/s hinge in the middle, bottom p/s hinge on right:

just have to back the door screws out slightly:

Door is off the truck but you get the idea:

tighten with your 12mm wrench on off you go

I think this thing will work out fine as long as no one hangs on a door. Not as fast as a set of pinned door hinges but a lot easier than trying to hang a door by yourself

I had tried drilling out the brass bushings on one set of hinges on my tube doors for pins, that worked fine for the tube doors but with out the brass bushing in there with the weight of a full door it would kind of droop a little bit.
I would love to get a set of Adam's @ 4xinnovations hinges but he only has them available for '84-'04.

x2--my wife wasn't thrilled seeing me come home with a door and radiator today...I tell her my truck is better than having an affair, drinking or being on drugs. we know where the money goes and if times get tough, the truck can sell

I am actually pretty lucky to have an understanding wife that likes to wheel every now and than too

Hmm. looks easy. I'm wanting to go door-less on my 2nd gen 4runner but the weather has been unstable here so far.

I hear ya brother. I told my wife the same thing when I retired from the Army, I need something to do so it's my truck and woodworking or I'll just to to the wet-mess with the boys and I'll see ya when I see ya....she knows me better than that so she just said "shut up and play with your truck!". She too is also pretty understanding, otherwise I think we would not be married for 25 years.

The only thing that is less than stellar about the idea that I can see is that it allows the hing end of the door to move in and out as far as distance from the truck, where as stubs idea just uses gravity to get the second bolt started and then adjust from there.

I was talking to a friend about doing this and he stated that the vibrations from the road might shack the hing loss from the door. Now he's got me scared to try it. What do you guys think?

Ive had my doors finger tight before with only 2 bolts in each and they held just fine. So with all 4 bolts in and all the way tight i dont see it being a problem whatsoever, but theres always loctite!

update..

my version of a quick release hinge was not a great success, it works but was kind of a pain.... so I decided to go with Stub's gravity version...much easier, notch the upper hole on each hinge:
