Man! I broke a needle bearing

I accidently broke a needle bearing on my rear driveshaft's double cardan joint.

What should I do?

how do you break a needle bearing?

your talking about the needle bearings in the ujoint caps?

so replace the ujoint.... find a needle bearing out of an older joint?!?!

I broke a roller bearing in the CV ball joint.

go to napa and get a centering ball kit, replace and go

Do I need to know who the manufacturer of the bearing is and part #s?

no, they look it up by application. tell them whatever year truck its from and they will get you the proper kit.

You're wrong.

I guess the '97s are still too "new" to be rebuilt.

There's not a listing for a center ball rebuild kit. They have them. Just not in for my model. All they have are U-joints.

Now I'm wondering which CV joints can change over. I know for a fact that U-Joints for the front CV on 84-94 Toys are the same as the rear CV on my '97.

Yeah, they're not going to have it. They don't deal with driveshaft work. They only replace the whole thing.

I found a similar diameter one at a local bearing shop.

It's a little shorter (about 1/4 less in length) but it works.

Drove around today and I did hear a light grinding sound of sorts from the driveshaft but at least the original problem(U-joints) is gone.

Any safety issues here guys?:pat:

how many needle bearings are there supposed to be in the double cardan cv ball joint?
