Lifting 4runner = Warranty Void?

I know this question has probably been beat to death, so I am going to ask it again. I just purchased a 2007 SR5 4Runner 4x4 and I want to lift it a small amount. The car is "certified used" so it has a 7yr 100,000k warranty. I am worried that a 2-3" lift will void my warranty with Toyota. Someone please help. Thanks

it wont void the entire warranty, BUT for example if you have a ball joint go out they could say it was because of the lift and not warranty it, it depends on the dealer, they will have to prove that the lift caused the warranty issue

"Magnuson-Moss Act" and do your own research

Yep, the warranty will still be good. The only thing the warranty won't cover is a failure directly connected to the lift and the parts you added to lift it.

Not true, unless Chrysler is disobeying federal law. The Magnuson-Moss act makes it illegal.

The whole warranty cannot be voided.

Last time i checked back when my vehicle was still under "warranty" just looking at it voided most of the warranty. Driving it was considered an act of pure sadism and resulted in no warranty at all on anything. Stealerships are weasils and will try to screw you out of warrantied work any way possible, IMHO

Why? Warrantied work actually guarantees that the dealership will get paid.

Regardless, it is against federal law to void the warranty. The only thing they can legally void is failures that were actually caused by the modification, not the whole warranty.

warranty work guarantees pay, but it also means no commission on parts, and it costs the company overall money which makes them frown uppon it. I had a service writer try to tell me that my cabin light circuit shorted out inside the cab because the vehicle had been driven through the mud. Yeah, right pall.

Depends on the dealership. They're not all the same. Plus if you had purchased the vehicle from the same dealership they may be more inclined to help you out.

As for warranty related issues, it's true. Any failure directly (or sometimes indirectly) caused by the modifications wouldn't be covered under warranty. But you wouldn't expect that anyways. If your driveshaft slip is too short, and the lack of contact causes the splines to twist, that's not Toyota's fault...

If you lift the vehicle, and the brake hose fails, it's not covered. But if you put longer brake hoses on with the lift kit...

You get the idea.
