i took my 4runner to Uwharrie for the firs time last weekend and its quite obvious that it threw my alignment out. what do you guys do about this? i really dont want to get my truck realigned everytime i hit up a trail. can i beef up my IFS or what? any suggestions...

 

Firestone Lifetime alignment for $139

 

Look into Downey's IFS truss.

I'd go with the truss. I go wheeling multiple times a week usually and the only reason I've needed an alignment was because of replacing a tie-rod end.

 

i think im gonna order up the truss and have a local rock shop build me some heavy duty tie rods. does that sound sufficient? think i need anything else upfront?

 

nope, I know one guy who bought the lifetime allignment without buying tires from them. I bought it too, i think it's a pretty good investment if you wheel alot.

 

lifetime alignment eh? never knew such a thing existed. solid investment though.

i usually just deal with the alignment untill it gets dangerous, not the smartest thing to do, i know, but when that happens i break out the tape measure and get it as close as i can myself, and then make it so it tracks straight down the road.

 

Yeah, the lifetime alignment is also good at allthe firestone store across the country.
So, "if" I'm out in moab, I can still get my junk aligned.

 

I paid $120.00 for my lifetime alignment at firestone. I've been there 3 times and I'm taking the rig back there soon. The # 1 thing any off road rig needs.

 

would getting heavy duty tie rods help at all? or is the truss mainly what you need?

The Downey Truss is what fixed mine. I am running 33x12.50's and was always getting alignments. Just went last weekend and no problem. I would
say it is a must for IFS.....IMO

 

I sell on average 2-4 Lifetime alignments a day.
Quite a good deal, if you ask me.

If you want to drive to Houston, I will do them for cheaper than that!!!

 

Anyone with idler arm problems? These usually tend to cause the most slop in the steering once they wear out. Total Chaos makes a beefy idler arm- anybody running one of these?
