which gear/locker combo?

My yota has a 22R motor and I am gonna be running stock Toyota running gear. What gear/locker combination will best suit 35's? Thanks.

the cCVs in the front will be compromised with 35s if you plan on any real offroading, they cant handle that kind of torque, especially if putting a locker....

the best gear ratio for the 35s is 4.56s or 4.88s

4.88 would be ok, but I would go to 5.29's

In fact just do the 5.29's. With the 22RE you'll appreciate it.
I have 22RE 33 and 4.88 and I wouldn't run 35's with 4.88's

5.29's for 35's.

4.56's are good for 31's and borderline for 33's.

Yup 5.29's. If you know you are going to go bigger than 35's someday it's good to have them in there now.
However the 4.88's will probably give you better on road performance than the 5.29's will.

Do your self a favor if you want more traction with your setup just put a lockright or aussie locker in the rear differential for now.
aussie locker's website
Leave your front differential open unless you have upgraded your birfeilds.

If you haven't upgraded the birfs and it's locked in front you stand a very good chance of breaking them.

If you have treated longfeilds then go for it lock up the front but they warn people not to run over 33's with them. I did some reading on this and it is something they are using for them to CYA because some people have broken treated longs using over 36" tires.
The treated longfeild axles are $65 ea if you send in your stock birf's to him he sends them back free shipping.
longfeild axles website

Also another axle to concider is the bellfeild and 4340 chromo axles. They sell them at www.polyperformance.com

Here is some info that will help you if you decide to martack your inner axles shafts. It's basically a bun weld on the inner splines that go into your diff.
That way the axle shaft stops so it doesn't slide all the way in. It also prevents the shaft from walking so your inner oil seal doesn' leak into your birf.
This mod is so you don't need to use the inner c-clips that go into the birf's so it makes changing a birf easy you just pull it off.
Here's a example of what martacking does:

Also here is a good article on actually doing this.
