Unless you have all the equipment laying around, and know how to use them and have the materials, then it will be cheaper to buy one

also, try searching, there are lots of threads about this

Havent finished it yet, been busy. I have a winch to mount, the ends are made to hold chains inside with locking doors. Tubing is 5/16 thick, so it is pretty stout. I am building a rear bumper to match that will double as an air tank. Need stout bumpers for pulling out the 3/4 ton Dodge that goes with us!

Check in "The Fab Shop" section - many people have built their own.

x2 on checking what's available in the market first. With the price of steel, if you have to buy any tools, it may indeed be cheaper to buy one already made.

Recycling centers are sometimes the best places to buy steel sometimes. Also tractor dealers sometimes have braces for farm equip. Got my steel from tractor dealer, they had a load of bailers come in and didnt have room to store the braces. $50 bucks got me almost 1800 pounds of steel!

95% of the bumpers i see getting built on here...start with a winch mount from the same company...well..i dont plan on buying a winch..or ever thinking about gettin one..lol..(i have friends to pull me out..of course it would be nice to have one)...so anybody wanna post up pics of there custom tube bumper WITHOUT a winch mount..

I like monsters design (the one on the bare chassis and the beefy lookin bare metal one right below it)

I love mine. It is super beefy! The bolt holes lined up perfectly. It took me less than 15min to put it on. Super nice bumper.

Here is my bumper that I built. I still need to make some hoop protection. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Since you want to see ones with no winch mount, here's mine. Air tight and plumbed for air storage. Designed for maximum approach angle.

yea..the design i will most likely follow the most will be the Badlands bumpers Basher Tube design...it will be plated on top..like the rest of the badlands bumpers..but will also be plated on the front..like..kinda on the bottom..to protect a little more..but i might leave it open..still researching of course.......
