I ended up getting a spider trax aluminum, but recently purchased one from Marlin Crawler that is rounded on both sides. As for getting nicks from rocks, highly unlikely that will occur on the area that the rope will come in contact.
why the upgrade in line size??? I would like to buy one cable and be done.

Perhaps I need to look at other designs of AL farileads (marlin, etc). It seems have all four sides rounded is the ideal

3/8" spools up much better than 5/16", and like mentioned earlier you don't need a 125', but I do plan to re-use my old line as an extention cable. This time around I'll just buy bulk and do the lacing myself and will get the mastercraft safety hook.
