E locker Gearing Question

So, I have been considering putting a locker in my second gen 4runner for some time, and someone locally has a pretty good deal on a locking third member with a wiring harness, but the ring and pinion is bad. According to my door tag I have 4.56 gears, which I am not sure if the door tag is accurate. My question is can I swap the ring and pinion that's currently in my axle into the the new e locker third member. Some brief google searching leads me to believe the v6 ring and pinions are the same as the v6 e locking ones. Has anyone done this?

Yes, they will swap over. 86+ 8" v6 and 4cyl gears them selves are the same, but the v6 uses a bigger carrier, and the v6 vs 4cyl carriers are not interchangeable. But the gears are.

The pinion races may be different, and since you have it all apart, it would be wise to get a bearing set up kit for the 4rd your swapping the ring and pinion into.

Edited because I read the question wrong at first.

Make sure nothing else is damaged, that the locker motor and mechanism work and no bearings spun the races in the housing. Good luck with it! I hope it's a good unit to swap for your project.
