Exclamation Downey off-road manual locker, for e-locker

I was reading my new issue of 4wd Toyota Owner Magazine. And in the toyota holiday gift guide. It shows that downeyoff-road has a product to turn your 79-85 e-locker into a manual locker getting rid of all the electronics. seems to me that you could have an open diff or when the trail gets tuff jump out just like when you lock your hubs and lock your differential manualy! no air, no wires or electronics.
When an e-locker is engaged does it function just lock a full time detroit locker. it will allow one tire to go faster than the drive wheel around a corner but not slower so it pozzi's up?
I like the sound of this. what do you guys think. And i dont need to hear from the lazy poeple that say its a hassle to get in and out of your rig.

from what I have heard they are not as nice as they sound...

With an e-locker, if it malfunctions and cannot be turned on/off, you can still actuate it by hand.

I will have to see if I can find where I read this, since it is second hand information.

Downey makes a cable actuated elocker conversion for the rear and I guess there's an issue with having to run cable to the front diff so they just made a pull tab to actuate it.

it's full lock up, detroits are auto lockers.

Toyota e-lockers are spooled when they're activated, open when they're not. The lockers work great, but the actuator motors sometimes take a dump and can leave you stuck until you unbolt the motor and manually flip the fork to lock it up.

Detroit lockers and other auto-lockers click and clack and allow differentiation until you apply enough torque to it to lock it up.

well remember you gotta find one to fit your front diff... the only way of that is to get a land cruiser front axle, not just a regular toyota axle or dana. it has to be a land cruiser axle from years '91 to 97 i believe. its the 80 series.

a standard e-locker will fit the front diff with some modification.

I've used many lockers and as far as the front goes you want a selectable locker. ARB or Elocker. The only difference in the front is that you need to clearance 1 bolt head on the actuator to clear the leaf spring. No big deal. I run them front and rear and when they're on you're locked 100%, when they're off, it's just a regular diff. A front locker kills your turning radius and can be very annoying at times. Use it when you need it.

Here's a pic of the front. The bolt that needs to be clearanced is in the middle of the red box. I took about half of the head off.
