I'm not sure. Again, I think either Frontrange off-road or ORS could really give you the beef on the setup your looking for. Schaefer, you have anything on this....

The only other way I know of is to get the spindles, hubs, bearings and axles from a Maunal Hub Tacoma in a junk yard or from an SAS'er.

You want everything between the ball joints and the axles, which will not be as strong as the ORS ones.

I found a CV axle assembly off a 2002 ADD Tundra with 16,000 miles for $50.

That's a great deal, but wanna get confirmation that it will fit my 4runner. Will the 02 Tundra CV axle fit my 97 4runner?

Please help!

I'm having this same issue of trying to convert my ADD axles to manual hubs on my 97 4runner and now that ORS and Downey are both out of business, I cant just buy the conversion kit. How do I make a hybrid CV axle with the manual outers and 4runner inners?

One other thing, I've heard that its possible to buy some sort of NAPA brand CV axle for the 3rd gens that has a boot that is more pliable & longer lasting, all for a price of something like $65 per side. Has anyone heard of/done this? I'm making a trip to california in less than a month and my current cv's wont make it!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

there are write-ups on this all over the place. I would do some more searching. Napa axles do have more pliable boot but it is $100-1XX dollars here in Austin.
