How many inches of lift is required to use crossover steering.
I plan on using the allpro crossover kit on my 85

 

Should be atleat 3"

Your gonna have to use and IFS steering box too you know? Hysteer is very nice and much stronger. Marlin and tail-gear also sell the kits along with a Few other too!

Allpro used to issues with the links being to close and interference between the drag link and ti-rod. I still have there kit and havent had much issue aside from drag link and ti-rod clearance but I would call them on it and ask if they have fixed it yet. If they dont know what your talking about I would try another place. They should know about it though and Im sure they do!

Yes, 3" is about as low as you can go w/ crossover steering to allow room for the tie rod, drag link and pitman arm to fit between the spring and frame. I ran about that much lift on my '85 w/ AllPro x-over steering. Had to iterate a few times to get enough height on the passenger side arm to let the drag link clear the springs at full droop w/o hitting the frame at full compression. My draglink did rub on the passenger side springs enough to scrape the paint off of it and on the driver's side, the pitman arm would rub on the springs at full compression, you can see the scrapes in the spring paint in the image below:
