I am interested in a SAS conversion for my '94 Extended Cab PU. I have looked at the various kits, Marlin Crawler, Trailgear, Big Rocks, etc. Seems that the cost of front-end kits runs about $1300 to $1400. A rear spring kit (ditchng the cheap stock saggy springs) costs another $400 to $500. Then, I would have to add a used 84-85 differential and rebuild with changed gears and lockers front and rear - add another $2000 to $2500? I called Precision Four Wheel Drive in Clackamas, OR and he just said it would take quite a bit of time, so I have yet to get an answer on the labor for a professional installation. I thought about doing it myself, as I am fairly good with cutting, welding and mechanical stuff, but I lack the time and I need to organize my shop better. Could you guys give me a ball-park figure? Any advice would be helpful also!

I used the TG kit f/r, regeared to 5.29's, locked f/r....i'm into mine for about $5k total including a set of 35x12.5r15 BFG MT. AJ from bentup and I did the install in one weekend. I just got my 30 spline longs, so tack on another $600. Don't forget that you'll also need a custom front driveshaft. My was $200 or $250....i can't remember. PM me if you want to know more.
That's the initial cost....an SAS'd truck is a continuous project. Having the SAS only makes me want a crawler box a lot more. I also wish I had a selectable front locker. Those are my next two upgrades.
