brakes please!?!
i've got an 86 toyota 4x4. anyone incounter that problem cannot get a brake pedel at all! if you pump it once or twice it's good but jab the brakes in a hurry it falls almost to the floor, gets hard and the truck will stop. i am a decently mechanicly inclined guy (just did a 4.3 vortec swap)so to start. 1st bled at all 4 corners. nothing better, replaced rear wheel cylinders. nothing, replaced all brake lines and bled. same, set of used frt. calipers (that i know are in good working order). nothing, brake booster is holding good vacume. replaced master cylinder nothing, and bled and bled cannot get a good pedel, anyone with a clue? the problem has been there since i bought the truck

i have the same problem, let me know if you guys find any solutions.
i was thinking about gettting the large brake cylinder, so there would be more fuild volume for stopping, but havent heard if it realy makes a difference or not

First thing i would do is to bleed the proportioning valve in the rear because sometime air usually stays at the highest point.if that doesnt work and im assuming you can reproduce the problem sitting at a standstill would be to linelock all soft brakelines. Then check to see how your brake pedal feels. If if feels like it should then you have narrowed your search parameters down to calipers and wheel cylinders.
Now if it feels good start removing linelocks until the pedal turns to crap again then when it does there goes where your problem is.
Now if the pedal feels no differently then you could have air still trapped in your proportioning valve or it could mean you didnt properly bench bleed your master before you put it in.
Well hopefully some of this info helps you this is my first post on the forums.Which I love to read daily Btw.
