? about swaping suspension parts from different gens
so i have a 87 4runner no lift, all that is stock. i could be able to own a rolled 2nd gen, for parts, for really cheap i mean really cheap with whats on it. all i have to do is pay the tow bill which is like $100.
its got alot of goodies on it like brand new 35 bfg mudders and so on (dont know all the specifics because i havent seen it since its been rolled).
i know the tires and running gear are in roughly good shape because they towed it home on all 4 wheels with a chain until they got pulled over by the cops and got a $700 fine. some how i guess thats illegal
i was wondering if i could take most of the IFS parts off of the 2nd gen and transfer them to my 1st gen? a-arms and all that good stuff(mine are a bit rusty)
could i use the front potrion of the lift and then just buy new leafs for the back?
ill know more here later in the week about what can be salvaged and what cant.

Yep, the front on the first and second gen is identical.
The rear is VERY different (leafs on first gen, 4 link + panhard on second gens), so you won't be able to directly swap much of anything except the thirdmember.
A lot of places it is illegal to recover and tow a vehicle without a license ... seems like a racket to me ...

Many people swap the brakes from the 90-95 4runners, since its an upgrade over the 87 calipers.
As for the towing, it only applies to vehicles not on a trailer or car dolly. It is a perfectly reasonable rule IMHO, since a vehicle cannot be on the road with a driver without being licensed.

yah all good points about the towing. so it turns out that some one else wanted it more than i did and stole it off the side of the road so poor me wont begetting any 35s and second gen parts for free (basically) so dissapointed.
good to know that the front ifs is tha same in 1st and 2nd gens that could come in handy one day
