So i am going to install my aal kit and was doing some thinking and cant find much info. yes ive searched!!!

so a normal aal would go between the overload spring and the rest of the spring pack (between position 1 and 2 from the bottom) thus arching the rest of the spring pack consiquently providing lift.
If you were to place the aal further up in the pack, i.e. between position 2 and 3 from the bottom or even between position 3 and 4 (4 being the top leaf) would this provide more lift due to the aal having to arch less springs? In other words could you acheive more lift by moving the aal further up in the pack?

my theory: if you put the aal further up in the pack it will have less resistance and less leafs to have to arch. therefore arching the leafs above it even more, providing more lift.

Could I be wrong?

i am looking for input from people who have tried this, or any one who feels they have something relative to say.

 

AAL are usually installed so that the leaves go from longest to shortest from top to bottom. So if the aal was longer then the bottom spring but shorter then the next one up it would go between the bottom spring and rest of the pack.

 

i understand that, but would you encounter any problems or benifits from moving the aal around in the pack? regardless of spring length

 

I would think that it would put presure at a weak spot in the arches of the longer leafs. I don't think its a good idea. If you're wanting to try something else, then pick up some other leaf springs and add some leafs form the other pack to yours.

if you put it under your main leaf you could bend or break it

In theory, your idea should work.
In practice, your idea will screw up your leaf pack.

When theory and practice come together, you will put the aal where it is made to go.
