Hey guys, this is my first post here. I've been using this forum for a ton of information on my rebuild, and finally decided to create an account. So I have my motor on a stand right now and I have easy access to the front diff, which has been leaking profusely since I clogged up the breather pretty bad mudding a few weeks back.
So while it's fairly easy to access, I'd like to pull the cover and replace the blown gasket, but for the life of me I can not find anybody who sells the gasket for a 1989 Toyota Pickup 7.5" IFS front differential. I've found plenty rear diff gaskets and solid axle gaskets but nothing for the front IFS diff cover gasket. Anybody have a part number or knows somebody who sells them? Thanks in advance.

 

Forgive me if I tell you a bunch of B.S. I'm not entirely certain on diff cover gaskets as the only thing I've replaced on a diff was a input flange seal on bmw. With that being said is making your own gasket for differentials not commonplace using LoctiteŽ 5810™ or something along those lines.

Don't bother with a paper gasket I have been running permatex super black front and rear without issues. Just make sure you get it clean of all the old orange fpig before you put new stuff on. Ether (starting fluid) cuts gear oil really well clean both surfaces with it just before applying the new permatex.

The factory used a "form in place gasket" Or FIPG for short. You can buy it from the dealer. Or just get the black rtv gasket maker from a parts store.
