Looks like Downey has a skid plate for the 4th gen 4runners (see below). I'm contacting them to find out additional information. I'll post the information later.

"2003-04 4 RUNNER SKID PLATE

We never got around to designing a new front-end guard for the new generation 4 Runners, and you can see by the looks of this beat-to-crap front bumper, weh should have! What we didi do is remove the totally mangled stock sheet metal skid plates (both) and replace them with one of Downey's indestructible solid steel zinc plated Tacoma skid plates. Installation requires welding front mounting tabs onto a front cross-bar (as shown), and drilling two new 4 Runner mounting holes into the Tacoma skid plate - - - easy deal
52203-L ‘2003-04 4 Runner Lower Skid Plate"

It's about time somebody came out with one...

Well, how 'bout a few months? Are you still interested in making the skids?? The "simple" design? Any other 4th gen'ers interested??

Is it going to be a full belly skid or just more beefy than the OEM ones? I really would like my transmission pan to be covered as well. There was a design like that posted, a few guys made it, but it seemed to have died.

Yeah, ditto. I'm interested and ready, but would want more specifics on what exactly the product would be before I commit. Also, would want to make sure there will not be compatability issues with the bolt-on sliders. Can we work on this with you here in this forum, peraps in the vendor group buy section, as a group before we start contacting you individually??

If you are referring to the one in his pic. It was done by Jason at Demello Offroad.

Jared, which pic are we talkin about? The only skids I had were Downey's (first one) and the current AZrain skid.

Btw, if you want skids built, you're going to have to go custom as I don't know of anyone that is currently interested in making a bulk. I've asked vendors but it's all fallen through the cracks. Sorry

I was referring to the one in your Avatar. Wasn't that a part of the bumper he built for you? Sorry for spreading bad info.

Ahh, the bumper is his but the skid is not. I've asked him to make something but since he's so busy it hasn't happened yet. I'm still working on convincing him that there's a demand for this item.

The skid that I have was built by AZrain (mike from AZ) 2 years ago. It's an one off (actually there's only 2 in existance). He was going to make some more but since he's doing it from his own home it never solidified.

I know there's a shop in Corona/Chino Hills, CA that made a skid for some guy's 4th gen but I'm not sure where that thread is. Basically it's a simple design that any can make. Any local fabber/welder can make a quick skid rather quickly. Just a few bends here and there and tabs to mount it and call it a day. Pretty easy to build fyi.

Good luck!
