headers

Hey kyle,
Most of the stories I have heard about ssautochrome headers are pretty bad. Welds are poorly done, sometimes they come with holes in the pipes from the heat of the welding, mounts do not align correctly and have to be chopped up and reweled to correctly fit, flanges are made of aluminum which rusts easily, they are not carb approved. Now there are some good cases where the headers fit and work correctly, but i would put that to a 1:10 ratio, which i dont think is very impressive.
I would personally recommend spending the money for good headers, because you pay what you get for. from what i header, headers can be a PIA to install and you dont want to spend extra time having to remodify headers to fit. thats my 02 cents hope it helps

I have SSautochrome headers on my 3.4. They look alright. You get what you pay for of course. I didn't feel any low end power gains. The quality was ok. I have seen worse. They are stainless which is nice. The welds don't look beautiful but they do seal. They do have a .5" thick flanges with don't leak. The only leak I have is my own fault. My didn't turn out so good on the adapter. So if you are on a budget, like me a poor starving college student, give them a try. But if you have the bucks, try here for info http://toyotatruckworld.tenmagazines...tundra_headers

S&S headers are probably the best long tube ones out there, JBA for shorties, but both are more $$. The feedback on SS are mixed. There are a ton of posts over on TunSol regarding this
