Starter Help
I have a 1997 Toyota T100, 4x4 Titan, and have been having problems with my starter for some time now. I bought a new one to install, but removing the old one is giving me hell. Is there any way o remove the old starter without removing half of my exhaust? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Update
This morning when arriving at work I turned off my truck and pulled out the keys and the starter kept turning over
I had to unhook my battery to get the truck to turn off. If I put the keys in the ignition and turn them to on and reconnect the battery it cranks right up. I guess I can take out the fuse and reconnect the battery, but does anyone know why this might be happening?

Chances are you don't need a whole starter but rather about $8 in contacts...maybe the plunger also. You can get one bolt through the fenderwell. The other can be reached from under the truck. It just takes the right combination of extensions and wobble joints.

The "Titan" is for the appearance/performance package on T-100. It's similar to the SR-5 but has a few extras like alloy rims with same as spare, a little more trim, stuff like that. I really haven't seen but maybe one or two besides mine, and I think that they're kind of rare.

OK. The other day, I started my t and it took a minute, bad starter. However, when I got to work I tried to shut it off and when I pulled the keys OUT of the ignition, the engine would keep on trying to start. Finally I realized the starter was continually engaged and drove it around untill the plunger dis-engaged the starter gear from the engine. Since then, I haven't had a problem starting it. I hit it with a hammer acouple of times when it wouldn't shut off, and maybe that fixed it.
