Nerf bar/running board recommendations

I need to get nerf bars, running boards, or steps for my 2010 Double Cab, 4X4 Tundra. My biggest concern is fit and quality. Appreciate any comments, suggestions. Thanks.

forget nerf bars/running boards and go straight for a pair of steel rock sliders. there are many companies making off the shelf sliders for your truck these days, aside from any steel/fab shop that can make you a set as well for similar price. if you want them solid, without the gap between the rails (like if you have little kids that step on them) then you can always order sliders with a plate inserted or welded on them. this would be the best choice for your money. if you google tundra rock sliders you will find a few companies.

pricing between nerf bars/running boards and rock sliders is very similar - but since a nerf bar/running board might actually act as a damage multiplier, you might as well get something that's going to actually protect the rockers/bottom of your doors -- not only on the trail, but also on the road (ex: shopping cart rolling down the parking lot into your truck, or car t-bone you in accident). plus you get a nice stout place to hi-lift your rig from on the trails/emergency and they look great.

I'd build my own simalar to these but I'd use somthing like 2x4 tubing rather then 2x2 for the part the sticks out(what your would step on)http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/11...-rock-sliders/

I would go straight to the rock sliders as well. I did the nerf bar because I was able to put it on myself and have regretted it ever since. Still waiting to get around to get some rock sliders put on

Between the two, I would get a nerf bar because it looks good on a truck and to me, it has a more solid construction than a runningboard. To give you an idea about your options, here are some nerf bar designs for your rig - http://4wheelonline.com/Nerf_Bars.19775. The Go Rhino , RBP and Nfab are just some popular brands. Most of the people I know are happy with their Nfab nerf bar.

And if you want something that can withstand some abuse and protect the bottom of your truck from damage especially during off-roading, a rock slider is your best option just like what others said. There are rock sliders that can also serve as stepping platform. You can also ask your local fabrication shop to make custom rock sliders for you.
