need advice on possibel purchase of '98+ land cruiser

Hello all,

I'm looking to buy a '98+ land cruiser. I'm looking at rigs with 150k-200k miles. I've never owned one before. What should I look for when looking at one with this many miles? What are some common failures/ problems/ issues with these rigs? Specifically, what maintenence/ parts need to be done at this kind of mileage? Is it reasonable to buy one with 175k & expect to get another 100k out of it without any major repairs? As a buyer, what specifially should i be looking for with this vehicle with this kind of mileage? How do their transmissions hold up? Any & all help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Glad we arent in the same state I'm looking for the exact same thing. From what I have read I've found that the main issues are with the front suspension under rough conditions and a tendency to develop a hairline fracture in the manifold. My only concern is that 98 is the first year that they rolled out the new body style including a v8 engine. Looking forward to some replies from the experts.
