So I have a problem with with the low pressure power steering hard line on my 2000 tundra, the one that returns back to the reservoir. Its got a case of corrosion and is leaking. After a quick call to my local toyota they informed me the only way to get this line was to buy an assembly that include the high pressure line as well.....for a whopping $500....not a chance. I've tried looking on other OEM parts sites and I'm not having much luck. Can anyone with toyota parts experience direct me down a better path here? I couldnt imagine spending more than 50-60 for what I'm looking for here. If thats not going to be an option then I need an honest opinion on the what if's involved with just running a rubber line from the rack up to the reservoir......15 bucks worth of line and a couple of hose clamps sounds a lot more resonable than a $500 assembly with a bunch of stuff that I dont need to be replacing. I love my toyota's but some times they make me what to flip out with how they sell the replacement parts. Any and all comments are appreciated....thanks.

 

The hi pressure line is available for ~80.00 at Rockauto. I'm also having problems finding the low pressure hose. I spliced in a rubber section temporarily.

 

The only way to get the low pressure line is as an assembly with high pressure. I believe Napa and advance auto both carried it when I replaced last year. Not sure which I got it from though.

 

I would look into just bypassing the hard line. Really no need for the steel line and there isn't a lot of pressure there to worry about.
I also run Magnafine filters in all my return lines. Saves cleanup for when something does go south.
