JDM Motor

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market
Generally speaking, motors used beyond a certain time frame / mileage are "trashed" in Japan, then resold to other countries. The motors usually have a bit more power than the US version. That all depends of course.
A lot of times they will just cut the whole front clip off a vehicle with about 40K miles on it and ship it in bulk out here.

Well, so far so good. I picked up the truck last night. The new motor has 33,000 miles on it. I had them replace the timing belt since they wouldn't charge me any labor on it. It has a whining noise coming from the timing belt so I think they may have it a bit tight. I might dig into it this weekend and fix that. The JDM motor seems to have a bit more power and so far runs perfectly. It sounds slightly more aggressive also. I'm just noticing how noisy the valves where on my old engine. The new one is as quiet as a church mouse. I had all of it done for under $3000. Now I might add the super charger.
