Got in an accident, need your opinions
Ok guys, this sucks. I was dropping something off at work before I was going home, pulled out of the parking spot and a big wood chipper truck hits my bed. It happened so quickly, and now that I think back on it, I really think it was his fault. When he hit me, I was already getting my hand on the shifter to put it in drive. But hey, live and learn, at least he didn't hit the doors or the cab and nobody was hurt. Anyways, we both agreed to go our separate ways (no damage to the wood chipper truck). If you look at the scratches, it doesn't really look like I was moving at all.
How much do you think this is gonna cost to fix? The bed seems a little out of wack where it meets the bed, but I'm not sure. I am going to get a body shop to fix the bed and tailgate, but I can do the bumper myself, I'll get a limited painted one instead of the chrome.

Thats a good idea, i can't say, i would say probably a bit, but i am no body repair guy so i can't say for sure. Plus im sure local prices would vary, but im sure someone can give you a quote in the ball park

FWIW that's actually not that bad, I was expecting to see a caved in side or something... I've seen worse hits from people parking...lol
I had a side panel, rear cab corner and rear bumper done on mine this summer [repairing winter damage from a stupid signpost that did'nt jump out of the way lol] cost was $750 including paint.
I would guess yours would be sub-$500 unless you have that plastic box then who knows? Make sure they quote to paint the whole panel or you may end up with some seriously ugly finish issues.

Anyways, got some estimates today. The three places I went to all were within a couple hundred dollars of each other - $3000
On insurance it goes. I'll be getting half the bed replaced, a new limited body colored bumper, possibly new tailgate, and a new line-x bed liner. All new OEM parts.
All the places did say the guy hit me in the right place, vs the doors or front end. Here are some more pictures, they show how far it's pushed in. Not a repair job, it's a replace job

$3000?! Ouch! I knew it would be a replace job but that is painful...
Actually I remembered that mine was a simple dent pull not panel replacement, had it been a replacement I'd probably have had to pay around $1500...

Well here it is all fixed up. I am really impressed with the quality of the repairs, the paint is flawless. I got a limited bumper too
It was less expensive than the chrome one.

Limited bumper vs old chrome one.

What's great about Nationwide, is all the repairs are covered as long as I own the truck. So any rust, any bubbling, etc will be fixed no charge. The shop told me the bumper was OEM, but it is actually aftermarket from what I could tell. There was a small sticker inside the bumper with a different company's name. They may have to replace the rest of the step pads because they didn't fit right (probably because it was an aftermarket bumper). If replacing the step pad doesn't work, they will replace the bumper with an OEM part. Nationwide saved money by going aftermarket, right  now they might have to buy a Toyota part to replace the aftermarket part. But other than that, so far I am very happy with the quality of the repairs, as well as the service and professionalism that Nationwide has shown. I still need to go to the line-x shop to get the bed done, they wanted to at least give the truck back to me until they had a line-x appointment.

I'd have knocked it out with a rubber mallet, and done some of the paint work my self, it being such a small area, just to save some money. However it looks like you went for the big bucks, it looks completely flawless.
