back space?

I am planning on getting some 35s sometime this year and was thinking of moving up to 16-inch wheels so theres not so much tire sidewall showing. However, it seems like the wheel increase leads to an increase in back space. 15s give 3.75-inch while 16s give 4 or more. How much can you have before the steering gear rips the back sidewall of the tire open?:pat:

my T-100 came with 16 inch wheels( which i changed to 15 inch because tires are cheaper and original rims sucked), but they were the stock ones. there will be a chance that any rim you put on will have a different offset. i would stick with a rim with stock, or near stock backspacing if you don't have a lift. if you go too wide it will rub the outside of the fenders and too far in you may have the same problem or rubbing on the inside. you would also loose some stability, and your truck would look funny.
