4 wheel drive problem

i have an 04 tundra trd sr5 and i am having a problem with my 4wheel drive engagining. when i push the shift on the fly button, either stationary or moving the transfer case does not engage. i can here the front diff. engage but not the
transfercase. any ideas would help.

Not sure how much you will be able to do. Those trucks have an electronic actuator that switches gears in the t-case. not sure how to test it.

Im no expert on this but I had trouble with my 4wd engaging on a 2001 4Runner SR5 and the mechanic just spent a couple of minutes cleaning my actuator when I first bought my truck. He said that the 4wd wasn't engaged often enough and that's why it got stuck. I took care of that 4wd not being used problem as soon as I bought it! Hope this helps...
