'00 2uz-fe p0171

2000 Tundra 2UZ-FE (v8), 129K miles. When i bought it, the CEL was on and was displaying P0171 which is bank 1 lean. I cleared it, and it was gone for nearly 5 months. It came back on one day after some particularly hard driving, cleared it, it stayed off until this last May when the temperature got above 70F. Now, whenever the temp gets above 70-75F, that same code shows up. Not ALL THE TIME. I can clear the code and it will stay off for a day or two. Once, though, I did get both P0171 and P0172, which is both banks lean.

Also, when it is above 70F, it takes two tries to get it to start. I will crank it for about 5 seconds, stop, then crank it again and it will start up. Then about every 4-5 times this happens, it sputters and barely starts. It does all this after sitting in the 70F+ temp for 3-4 hours or more.

Any help?

Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, and check for vacuum leaks and fuel pressure. The fuel pressure issue might be causing the two try start.

(make sure to use actual mass air flow cleaner. Anything else might be too tough on the sensor)
