Three speed transfer four speed trans shifter

Three speed transfer four speed trans shifter
Looking for some help. To obtain a decent crawl ratio I'm getting a new transmission/transfer case combo ready for my 78 FJ55, and have a question. I mounted a three speed transfer case from a 73 FJ40 behind a non-USA (low first gear ratio) land cruiser 4 speed transmission. Everything is bolted together and feels great, but I find that neither a four speed transfer case shifter nor a three speed shifter that I had lying around mount up and work readily.
Anyone done this before- I have to believe there's combos like this out there. What did you do for the shift linkage? I look forward to and appreciate any insight you can lend. Thanks, Shmukter

Sounds like some custome fabrication is needed. The mountig hole for the transfer case is in a different location than the original, sounds like, You could go with the Twin Shift kit that Advance Adapters has for the cruisers. Works well as well as gives you 2 wheel low. Which come in handy.

I'm getting ready for the exact same setup on my fj40. From the research I've done you'll need all the linkage off of the 4 speed tranny and tcase, and possibly swap the nose cone off of 4spd tcase and swap it with your 3spd tcase nose. I'll know more in the next couple of weeks when I tear mine apart. I highly reccommend taking a peak at ih8mud.com. I found a TON of information over there regarding this swap. Untill then I'll look through my old notes and see if I can find anything out.
Please keep me updated with what you find, it may help me in the near future.
Just curious how did you mate the two together? Did you get the transition gear and bearing kit? Or is that even needed on the non-US versions?
