Searching for Rims... please help!
I'm searching for some 15" OEM steel rims for my '69 cruiser (the white ones with the hub-cap clips). I gave my son my cruiser in 2000 and he replaced the wheels with some tackey (imho) aluminum rims. He chucked the originals (but proudly proclaimed he saved the caps! He was using them as ashtrays in his garage and back deck.) They rims are probally melted down now and I think I'm shaving with the steel.
He's off to school and I got my cruiser back and am getting it back in shape. All in all the mods he made are not undoable (thank goodness!)
I tried most of the on-line vendors and the cheapest I found for OEM rims was $89! Holy cow! I remember buying a new rim for a stolen spare for $38 brand new from a Toyota dealer (back in 80 or so).
Quick questions:
Although I'm no cruiser expert, I think wheels newer than '74 will not work (or will they?).
Are they any cruiser boneyards that anybody knows about that may have some?
Does Toyota stock these anymore?
So... If you have replaced your rims with some snappy new ones and the old ones are laying around in your garage, please let me know. I'll supply the FEDEX account number to get them here.
I will trade the rims that are currently on the LC if you are interested. I'll need to give the rims/tires a better look see. He has not used the cruiser off road, just used it to pick up girls (ahhh... to be young again!).
Thanks-- and by-the-way... great board... just found it.

Is this what you're looking for? I don't know if they're OEM or not...
