I've searched on this site and www.ih8mud.com with no real results. What are the differences in the Collector's Edition and 40th Anniversary Edition Land Cruiser's as compared to a regular 97 LC?

Check out Slee Off Road...his newbie guide goes a little into what makes the 40th special. However, I was always under the impression that the 40th was the Collectors Edition. I might be mistaken though

40th = Collectors Edition. MSRP on a regular 97 LC was $41,188 - the 40th Anniv Edition was a $5549 option that got you:

40th Anniversary Limited Edition (Models w/Antique Sage Pearl Paint or Dark Emerald Pearl Paint)
Included: Auto A/C, Leather Trim Pkg., Alloy Wheels w/Painted Windows, Black Pearl Emblems, Floor Mats & 40th Anniversary Decals.

 

I thought it was two choices as well, but I've seen otherwise...

You are most likely correct.

"It has body side mouldings, black pearl emblems, dark wheel accent paint and climate control A/C. In addition it has emblems on the fenders. The difference between a Collector and a 40th(other than badging, Sage color, and floor mats) is the tu-tone leather in the 40th. Locks were optional on both.

I do have the CE, the Land Cruiser I bought just happened to have it. I do like the climate control and black pearly emblems though.
