Land Cruiser LX

Found this '87 LC on ebay. Factory turbo diesel? I have to plead ignorance on anything about diesel Land Cruisers like this. I figure any LC is going to be awesome. What about this one?

Thoughts?

They're great trucks, although you have to be cautious of the import situation, to verify that everything was done legitimately and legally. And it seems most of the northern Cruisers see a lot of off-road and winter salt and it plays hard on the Cruiser body...

x2 they are great vehicles proven in 3rd world countries to be almost indestructible. all of the LJ and BJ (diesel) cruisers were non-USA models, so if you find a factory diesel then it is likely imported and you will have to make sure all that paperwork nonsense is legit. As for the difference between LJ and BJ models, it's reference to the light duty vs heavy duty, so there are differences in things like R/P gear size and suspension, etc. other than that, the body is essentially the same for the respective model.

as for the one you found, i dunno on that one. It's a 70-series, which was never brought to the USA originally, so if the seller claims it needs body work then you will definitely be searching for parts if you need to replace something.

something to consider is that with the price for this cruiser being so high, i'd almost want to have a Land Cruiser importer find you a nicer one overseas and import it. there are a few people who do this professionally these days. pricing will likely be determined by the condition/buying price of the vehicle as I'd assume transport/import fees are going to be similar for all vehicles.
