Importing an FJ80
Hey all!
I am stationed @ Kadena, AB on Okinawa Japan. I have a 1991 FJ80 and was wondering if anybody has ever been through the fiasco of importing one of these vehicles. Any info would be great! Thanks again.

Assuming it`s a Japanese spec vehicle it has to be at least 25 years old to import into the US. For Canada it has to be 15 years or older.

you would have to jump through some pretty big hoops to get that thing registered in the US. And considering its an FJ80, not an HZJ80 or even a FZJ80, its not worth bringing over. They are available for cheap in the US and can be upgraded easily. I understand you probably have emotional attachment to it but sorry man, probably not financially smart or easily done. Sorry, I don't want to bring you down but its the way she goes Ricky, way she goes...

i had a friend import a skyline two years ago and it took him 7 months to do, after completing the import paper work (he complained about some big fees too) he had to make sure it met US safety specs for that year model i.e. air bag systems, safety glass, and emissions systems compliance.
