want to replace my glow plugs on 83 landcruiser bj60 3b motor. have no clue where to start. any help.

 

Check them with an ohm meter first. I'm not sure what the value should be for your rig, but an open circuit = bad glow plug. Put one lead on the terminal of the GP and the other should be grounded to the block.

 

replacing them today. is it as easy as unscrewing the old ones and screwing the new ones in? do i need to prime the cylinders? thanks

 

First off do you know what the function of glow plugs is? All they do is heat up the air in the cylinder or head when you first turn your key before you engage the starter. After that they are not used. The only reason you would need to replace them is if they no longer work and you live in a cold climate where they're needed to get it started. As to replacing them if you really do need to they probably have an o-ring so that the high compression will not escape past them and im sure there is a torque, look for an online fsm for your truck or motor.
