FJ 80 vs: 60 series TLC? ? ? ! ! ! ? ! ? ?

Hey Guys ______ I understand that the front diff. on a 60 series TLC is larger then the fj80 series TLC, is that correct? Also between the 60 series (not sure if 5sp. or 4), anyway between the 60 series and the fj80 series Auto which would be more desirable as an all around rig, you know, DD, Trail, dependability, less temperamental, parts availability longevity, you get the picture, putting aside the fact that the fj80 is more luxurious, just STRICKLY components of one versus the other It seems the 60s are a lot cheaper and aside from the luxury issue ,what would I be getting extra for my money on a 80 series?????? .Anyways___________ THANKS BAYRUNNER

Okay to start with the front differential in a fj80 is smaller, 8in. to be exact. But it should be about the same strength because it is a reverse rotation design. So don't worry about losing strength with a smaller ring gear. If I had the choice as to what to buy for a daily driver/weekend warrior, I would get a 1995 or later fj80. One of the main reasons is the motor and tranny. The newer motor has soooooooooo much more power and fuel economy. Secondly all fj80s ride better and handle better offroad because of the multilink coil suspension. But both are very very reliable and versitile rigs. I've had both and never had problems with drivetrain so to speak. On my old fj62 the tranny went bad after 290000 thousand miles. No biggie. And my fj80 rides and drives like new with 175000 miles.
