Early FJ40 as a daily driver?

Early FJ40 as a daily driver?
Thoughts opinions.....I live in New Hampshire - a cold climate to say the least. I dont need plush - I know they are spartan, but will I soon be wishing for something else?
Anyone with experience using an FJ40 as a DD please chime in. thanks.

I don't have personal experience, but a very close friend does.
He loves it.
However, it does have its downsides. You'll spend more time on maintenance than you would on a newer car, and his doesn't like to start in the cold, so a block heater or a garage is nice.
The heat is not amazing, though you can do different stuff to improve it, you'll probably be wanting to wear warm coats, hats, and gloves while driving.
The other thing to consider is that they are all very different beasts with different personalities, so you will likely have a unique experience.
Anyway, my advice is: Go for it. They are sweet, and like I said, despite the downsides, by buddy LOVES it.

I DD mine for a few years. Depends on the length of the commute. 15 to 20 minutes is not to bad, if you start talking about 45 mins to an hour, then it starts to suck.
As far as heat, I had a V8, so heat poured through the firewall. It was always warm. Actually If I had the hard top off, doors on and bikini, and the little soft cab, it would warm up much faster than with the hard top on. It was a little drafty though....
If the cruiser has drum brakes on the front, STAY ON TOP OF THEM or convert to disks, that was my bain with the FJ 40.

Like anything you can make it as comfortable as you want. I desperately want an FJ40.
No personal experience obviously but there are infinite ways to build one up for all sorts of different uses. I've never met an FJ40 owner who didnt love his truck.
Most nowadays need to be completely rebuilt unless you got a lot of cash to get one already restored. fyi
