Hi everyone. I'm having some issues starting an 87 landcruiser.

Here's my attempt;
I have an 87 samurai that has been sitting for a few years and it wouldn't start. So I talked to my father in law here was his suggestion;
open the carb slowly pour an ounce of gas and turn the engine over for a few seconds, it worked and ran for a couple seconds until gas in carb was used up(his words to get everything to wake slowly wake up) do it a few more times each time adding a little more gas into the the carb.

˟˟˟˟ it worked! Right on I'll try this on the landcruiser! It worked on the samurai it'll definitely work on the landcruiser. NOPE!!! The engine is turning but won't fire up. New battery, the starter is turning but won't start up.

The 87 is in great shape inside and out was well taken care of but had sat for a 5-6 years without being ran.

Any suggestions?

I don't know. I'm as green as a mechanic can come.

As I look into the carb as the vehicle is turning, I do not see a spark

 

No, check for spark at the spark plugs.
Lay the plug on the engine to ground it, and turn the engine over, you can see better if it's dark.

Any advice on replacing this part? I looked up the parts and I can't seem to find where it is sold with the coil and ignitor together

 

Can you repair the wire? Soldering and heat shrink to cover and seal is the best way to fix it.

Even a temporary fix will get you running till you can do a more permanent repair.

I'll look into it. I live in Sacramento there must be one nearby.

As far as soldering, it may be possible, I've never done it before but I catch on quick.

I know you found your problem but if your pouring gas into the carb and turning it over id be careful trying to look down into the carb. A backfire would leave your face like charcoal. Good luck getting it going.
