Wsup everyone!!

Been browsing the forum lately and finally decided to sign up!

anyways, Just bought a 98 Tacoma 2.4L 2WD with 130k ..wanted a truck because I do a lot of outdoor fishing and hunting. Got a 4banger because it'll save gas somewhat but just notice after keeping an eye on my fuel and tracking down the distance and fuel capacity, realize I'm only getting 16 miles to the gallon!! as much as my 05 Mercedes with a 3.7L v6!

I did lots of tune up but not quite enough

Change oil and filter
replace plugs and wires with NGK
replace fuel filter
replace air filter
replace lots of vacum hose that is crack

I want to replace the PCV valve but damn thing is rock solid stuck!!

Next on my list is cleaning out the throttle body with seafoam deep creep
and clean out my MAF sensor and seafoam the car up!

if that don't help, you guys think I should replace O2 sensor and t.p.s sensor?

the truck runs great! but the gas mileage is verrry poor! help me guys thanks! sorry if i posted on the wrong thread..i havent been on a forum for ages! haha!

Welcome, Before you start throwing parts at it, go to the FSM and check your TPS resistance with an OHM meter. Good luck with it.

What size tires are on it? If they're oversize and you're using your odometer to calculate mpg, chances are you're calculations are off (the odo reads low with larger tires), and you probably getting a bit more.

Its actually stock tires. I seafoam the car the other and realize I was getting smoke coming out of my Exhaust manifold! I'm thinking thats what causing the bad MPG. Im hoping it's just the gasket and not that infamous crack exhaust manifold problem that tacomas been having...

what color is the smoke?
you could also need some new rings if you're burning oil. That would also mean that you're losing compression which is a big deal. So maybe get a compression tester.
Also checking all the fluids and making sure the drivetrain (such as the universal joints) is all greased up would help you a bunch.
