I definitely agree, its not worth getting into it when your busy and have nothing else to drive. I didn't mean to imply that you should do it now, the smallest problem can easily cost you a few days or even more with that kind of project. Those ratios are so close, I don't think it would make a significant difference w55 or 56

Are you going to do the swap?

No, I decided against the swap..... at least on this Truck.

Since my Truck is my daily driver, it is nice to have the transmission shift the gears for you, especially with the ever increasing traffic around my area, plus the only problem I have with it is the 33 year old output seal is leaking. Not a big deal.

I plan on keeping my daily driver stock, and only adding a few factory options like a clock, Technics 2-DIN AM/FM Radio with cassette deck, SR5 combination meter, and eventually Air Conditioning. I like having a nice, clean stock Truck.

What I was thinking instead was to buy a "weekend camping" project truck which would be a 1985-1988 2 Wheel Drive Truck with the Xtra Cab and Long Bed (only 2 Wheel Drive Trucks came with that combination, at least in the U.S.) with the 22R-E and a 5-speed manual transmission. I would make a few subtle modifications that Toyota probably would have done if the technology and/or budget allowed for it. I want that Truck to appear as if this could have been bought this way from a dealer. I want to have a better speaker system, but still use the factory head unit. I would want to add an IPF H4 headlamp conversion for better light, but still retain the stock look. I really don't like the modern dark projector/LED housings for head lights. They just look like you are trying too hard to look "cool". Maybe convert it to 4 Wheel Drive? Maybe add an electric selectable locking differential?? Not sure. Right now, I am just dreaming...... Maybe dreaming a bit too much....

It sounds like a good plan.
Last question, why do you need the SR5 combination meter?

I don't need the SR5 combination meter.

I just wanted one because I liked it better than the standard combination meter, and I liked having more factory gauges.

There is nothing wrong with the standard combination meter.

Ok, I understand, thanks.
My 4Rs are SR5, but I prefer the DLX truck/pickups.
