HELP! aussie locker install in 2wd

so i was just in the process of installing my aussie locker and 4.56's on my truck. the part number for it is xd-27527. removal of the 3rd went smooth. then i started to tear down the diff. when i went to remove the side gears after the spider gears were out one of them was binding. so after i tapped it out i inspected the housing and the bore was gouged and damaged so now i need a new diff housing. my question is will the diff housing in a 4wd ifs work in the 2wd axle housing? or does it have to come out of a 2wd?

then my other problem which is aussie locker specific is i put the aussie side gear on the axle splines on my truck and it has more play in the splines than the stock side gears. i read all over that any 4wd ifs lunch box locker will work fine on the 2wd. am i just being to picky? or have other people had this problem?

First- count the splines on your axle....let us know if it's 27 or 30.

2 and 4wd diffs are different , right ? 2wd is a 7.5" ring gear and 4wd is 8"
3rd's are NOT a direct replacement and the 2wd wheel pattern is a 5 bolt , and the 4WD is a 6 bolt

.

not too familiar with 2wd, but i believe your rear-end IS 7.5", isn't it?. . . . . . . . .i dont think the 4wd ifs diff is reverse cut soooooooo.

my redneckness is telling me to tell you to pull an ifs 3rd, see if it fits, if not get a refund (ask junkyard) or sell it for what you paid. i see ifs housings+3rds for less than $100. . . . . . . .

the 4wd ifs FRONT diff has the same 7.5" r&p as the 2wd rear diff. and from what ive researched the ifs lockers will work in the 2wd.

well the 4.56's and the previous 4.10's i got are from ifs rigs so i know that much is true as far as swapping parts from one to the other.

The guts from a 4wd front diff will fit into a 2wd read diff (and vise versa), but the 3rds are not interchangeable.

^when you say guts do you mean as in the r&p, diff housing, and spider/side gears? i know the 3rd members aren't interchangable because the ifs front diff doesn't use a removable 3rd.

its seems there is very little info on the subject. am i like one of the first guys on here to put a locker in a 2wd or something!?!
