Benelli is pretty awesome.
My friend has a Nova (baseline) but the racking action is so smooth! I'm not sure if they still have it but the Benelli site used to have some movies of this shotgun expert who'd throw like 10 clays up in the air and hit them ALL before they hit the ground!!!

Storage - from what I understand, you don't want to overly oil anything cause it'll all settle in whatever position you keep the firearm. So light oil coverage and keep it in a moisture free environment. I keep some of that silica stuff in my safe. Last I read, some people suggested getting some very specific material gun socks that kept the moisture out - I think it was the same silicon cloth that some gun cleaning kits come with.

I'm not entirely sure though... at work here officers are required to qualify in specific shooting environments quarterly so their firearms never sit for too long without care.

 

The Benelli you're referring to is a cousin to my M1... it's the Super Black Eagle... fastest shotgun ever made....that guy is nuts w/ the clay pigeons....

Peter, I'll check out that Benelli. I've used a Remington 870 but thought the action was a bit stiff and slow for home defense. That's why I'm considering a semi-auto. Thanks for the info on cleaning.

NX, my Beretta is the Bobcat. It's under 5" total with a 2½" barrel, and can fit in the palm of your hand. I can't hit much beyond 15'-20' with it, though!

You should shoot one of my 870's. Slick as all get out. The newer Express Models take a lot of work to smooth up. Shoot an old Wingmaster and the last description that will enter your mind is that the action is stiff and slow.
Mine shoot so fast, they sound like semi's.
My 1100 Remington is still probably faster though not by much!

fish, I know what you mean. I swiped the sample photo off Google. Mine has the black synthetic grips. The Browning can't be fired with the hammer cocked if the clip is removed, even with one in the chamber and safety off.

NX, yeah it's tiny! Ready to rumble with a hair trigger standard and a relatively large capacity for it's size. Only for close-up work. My police officer friend calls it a "gut buster".

 

I'm not goldtaco9, but the Express is the economy version of the classic 870. It's a little rough, but inexpensive. I've got a wingmaster and it is smooth as silk. Nonetheless, I still prefer my Beretta Silver Pigeon (photo with action broken above) for clays. I just can't get the second bird to save my life.

The Super Black Eagle is an awesome piece, hard to beat for water fowl or turkey. 3.5" of 12 is a lot of lead capacity. My dad has a Field which is only a 3" chamber, it swings and balances nice for pheasant, doves, quail, etc.

I have an 870 SuperMag, an 870 20 gauge, a 700 .243 with Leupold scope, pretty walnut stock, etc, and a Browing synthetic 7mm Rem Mag.

Right now I have a serious itch for a Ruger Super Redhawk in .480 to do a little hunting, carry in the backpack for anti-predator operations, and just for the novelty of having such a big gun.

Also looking hard at a Weatherby Ultra Light in either .280, 7mm-08 or 308 or Browing stainless synthetic bolt in 375 H&H.

 

You won't know I'm armed if you pass me on the street...unless you pose "an immediate and otherwise unavoidable risk of death or grave bodily harm to myself my family or the innocent." Then you will know I'm armed...the split second before you get shot.

both of these would not creat a problem with importiong to the us (the Blackhawk came from Florida with me) and the CZ would just be some forms. the other hand the Mauser could creat some problems. I do plan on staying here though.
As for purchasing ..... Just to be allowed to purchase and own it is about a 9 month time period with a written test and actual shooting expierience (Loged)
with a 2" paper pile to keep everything in order...

I need to get some pictures of my hardware. Its a small list but functional. And yes I know I need an AR-15 to complete it.

*Glock 19 - nightsights, m3 tactical light and several "older" full capacity mags
*Mossberg 500 - ghost-ring site, (black) synthetic stock and bbl
*Remington 700adl in 30-06. black/synthetic stock/bbl. Leupold vari-x II 3-9 w/mil dots, knobs again in tactical black.

When I'm not reaching pure shooting satisfaction I have a few spydercos and benchmades. But those are usually reserved for camping and climbing.

In other news, we should be only a few weeks away from the end of the hi-cap magazine ban. Is anyone else excited?
