Coyote attack ??? They usually attack poodles around here. My Black Lab mutt enjoys chasing them when we spook 'em in the woods! If you can't spook off a coyote - get out of the woods!

I hate coyotes...We have a den of them right down the road.

One morning a coyote got one of our chickens. He ended up dropping it, but the poor little chicken had no feathers on her chicken butt. The dang coyote plucked her feathers. it took forever to them to grow back.

I see them running around in the morning when I leave for work at 5:20am. I hate when they hunt, they always sound like they are laughing and it scares the crap outta me.

 

Can you really blame the Coyotes? They are just canines and don't get a bowl of kibble like our canine friends. Often I think they are smarter than we are, even though they don't understand fuel injection! Chickens are yummy!

 

As of yet, I haven't needed to.

I carry Benchmade or Spyderco (both American made).

The Benchmade "axis lock" is an awesome locking mechanism.

Sadly, the ones I have aren't made any more.

 

Not many Spyderco blades are actually American made - they have them metal-injection-molded in Taiwan (despite us having better technology just up the road from them) ... no, I'm not bitter about that at all ... Yes, their knives are assmebled here in Colorado, and it is an American company.

Molly has a Benchmade that is pretty nice.

I've always been partial to Buck - but that was before they offshored their plant that used to be in San Diego ...

There's also CRKT and some others that are nice.

Kinda depends on what length you're looking for - each maker seems to have their specialty.

 

I carry a CRKT M21 for work. It's been a pretty dang good knife for the price and has a good positive locking mechanism. Easily opened with one hand if needed, and can be closed with one hand with a bit of practice unlocking it.

well no one has mentioned Kershaw that i have seen.. i love both of the ones i have. my daily pocket protector is a anodized red Blur, with black rubber inlayed grip. its got about a 3 1/2 - 4in blade (dont have a ruler handy) that has a spring assist.. i really like it, had it about 1 year so far. its got a lifetime warranty on the blade and also if i take it to them or mail it in they will sharpen it for free. i also carry there Alaskan blade changer when im out in the woods or hunting, comes with a bone saw, fillet blade, and skinners blade. i guess im lucky to live where i do, kershaw is about 45 minutes from me, benchmade is about a half hour a way and same with gerber lol.. iv had benchmade also, but about 3 months after i got it i droped it at work and snaped the tip off the blade.. called up benchmade and they wanted like 60 bucks for the blade so i just filed it down and use it as my tool box knife.... btw i beleve my kershaw was around $110, got it as a gift from my father.

 

i also use the sog seal pup, awsome knife, i had a kershaw spring assisted knife that stood up unbelievably, i used it for everything. but that gerber corey has looks awsome, wouldn't mind gettin one of those next

There are several companies that make a similar knife but i've yet to find one of this quality.

Next up is my trusty buck knife. Been a good knife. The tape isn't lined up its about a 5" blade and 10" overall length


This is a cheap winchester knife, its my daily pocket protector it has held up surprisingly well, a very rigid knife. Its nothing real special but it gets the job done

 

Right now I would like a folding knife. Anything 4" or longer. Those seem to kinda hard to find that fold

 

theres one just like your gerber thats a little longer... 4" or 5" blade

Now that you mentioned.. I had to check. Blade is made in Japan -- "ATS-55."

Mine is a Mini-Dyad (micarta handle, pocket clip). Second from bottom in this pic:


Awesome little knife, but I had to loc-tite the screws on the clip (first one I had one of the screws stripped out).

Other than this one, the Spyderco knives really haven't turned me on.

 

Kershaw had a couple I liked. And Cold Steel. Spiderco didn't really tick my clock though. I think I'll probably go with Cold Steel. I'll do more research tomorrow though

 

My all-time fav is the Benchmade BM732SBK:


Full 4" blade, I love the drop tip and axis lock. It has a pocket clip on the other side. As you can see, the clip is reversible.

The third knife that I tool around with is the BM705 (top one on this pic):

It's a bit smaller, a baby workhorse (and it shows, need to get it sharpened). The pic doesn't show, but there's a pocket clip on the other side.

 

I've been thinking about getting one of these. It is a DKD swing-guard automatic knife.
