toyotafiberglass - #001 Mirage

In 1982 , in Canada there were only 500 and they are all # plated . I believe it WAS a Toyota limited edition . If you look at the chrome tail lamps , and the original low mount chrome mirrors , they are Japanese manufactures , Port installed pieces , and dealer pieces , are always "North American " made .
USA I think copied it for there dealers in 1983.

I had a customer in contact with me for many years about restoring his . I offered many times to buy it , and he said he would never .. well , life got in the way , and I bought it .

well , its started .. I needed space in my lot , so I had to remove a few things .
dash is butchered , box is beyond repair .. and frame is a perfect example of where NOT to anchor your chain when stuck !

so most of the parts will be original , rebuilt in-house , and have the part # decal on them .. just like factory

You are pulling out all the stops on this one! I love it!

This will be a true restoration!

Someday I want to do something like this too.

Keep us posted!

some pieces coming back from my decal guy for approval , some still have to be "chromed"

engine back from the machine shop , and starting to go back together , short block done .. now I need some yellow bolts

signal lamps done .. took some time today for a little more restoration .
signal lamps for both MIRAGE and MOJAVE projects .
couple of the housings were broken , so I "glued" them back together , when Dried , I put them into the shop parts washer along with the lenses . (over a couple days)
now all dry from that , I repaired the sockets , and wiring , and tested !
I then polished the reflectors and painted the housings , put in the new bulbs with some dielectric grease .
I found some new rubber from a hardware store (for screen door ) and made some new gaskets , polished the lenses with carnubia wax , and back together .. tested and all work great .

I’m sure this will be amazing just like the rest of anything you do!!!!!

Quick question on the spline you are using for your housings, I just got some new lenses for my rear lights and repainted my reflectors in the front, I was on a mission for some new seals and spline came to mind but everything I looked at was really hard and had no play to form a seal…..is this spline in your pic pliable?

Anyway can’t wait to see this when it’s done!!!

havnt been able to do much on my Truck , working on customers .. But I was able to knock out a couple pieces ...
I have been searching for 2years for some rare A/C parts with no luck . A new friend had some on a project he was working on , and lent them to me so I could
make my own .
