This has been my all time favorite build on any forums. I remember following it when you first started and the amount of work that went into it. I like the last picture with the hood up showing the motor. The truck just looks new and someone not knowing Toyotas would think it came from the factory that way.
Every time I think I am happy with the skills I have acquired, I see your rust repair, fab, turbo, motor swapping abilities, I see I have a long ways to go to where I would like to be. You are a great motivator.
5 years ago???? Some one stop the hands of time. Sure doesn't seem possible.
yup .. time flies .. and thanks for the props Terry.
Yep, ya old fart! Haha! The ole girl is looking good!!! I actually got a good offer today on my truck (Truthfully, I've had several good offers, but they keep going up so I'm holding out a little longer). A guy offered me a nice FJ40 with no rust plus cash. Could be a good canvas for a restoration plus a nice budget to do it with. I also had a guy named Jeff (I think) contact me about it who said he's building one too and is on your waitlist for bed.
It's looking good for me so far; however, bittersweet...

yeah old fart is right I'm feeling very old these days , as I just cant keep up !! like the ol' days . stress has it's ways
good to here on your offers ... honestly , even if I got my "asking" , I don't know if I would let her go . I had a 38g offer , last year , but I just couldn't ... I just couldn't .
The Name " Jeff" Dosnt ring a bell , but as you know , I'm booked for a very long time .. and I'm just slowly chunking away at the list
not much 2 add .... working it seems non stop (shop is soooo busy ) , so not much time to work on the MOJAVE either ... but have been to a couple shows . Revelstoke was beautiful , haven't been there for years, even got an interview on the local radio
Great looking Trekker, awesome work! Do you make the decal/stripe kits for these 1st gen Toyotas? I need to buy a set for my truck if you make these kits. Thanks
Jack
Once you get building in your blood, there is only so far that you can go with a truck, I think Builders are the kind of guys that want to take on a new project from an idea to reality. Even if you got a dollar for every hour that you got into it, it would not be enough money for it, but that is not why you build one. For me anyways, it is to see what I can build from a vision. You have built one heck of a truck and I cant see much more that you could do to it with out taking away from it. If you can come out with a little more then what you got into it, that always makes it better.
At first I thought some guys were crazy for some of the work they got into their trucks and then sell them. Now I can see why they like to move on to other projects. Sure beats holding down a recliner and nice to look back and see what you got accomplished.
so .. the time has come again .. thinking of selling ..
maybe try ebay like Dave ..
don't have to , but maybe it's time to move on ?
.
I have no regrets thus far in selling mine. My thrill is in the build and pride. I like the fact that my work is admired by people in Texas now. Ebay was great for exposure, but don't count on selling it through ebay. I go a stupid amount of low ball offers (I'm talking like $5K!) and people telling me that I'll never get my asking price. I also got a ton of compliments - people saying "great truck, I wish I had the money to buy it!" Eventually somebody will get up with you and you'll sell it outside of ebay like I did. Good luck if you try to sell it and let me know so I can help put the word out there for you.
well time sure flies ...
only drove her to about 5 or 6 shows this year .. was busy building the Mojave tribute .
anyway .. time to for hibernation till next spring
Wow... so glad I spent the time on this thread. Amazing build man, just amazing. I'm glad to see you holding off on the sale of this beauty until the right arrangement comes along. When you sell, if you sell, you have no pressure.
