Lights

And now the light bar and back-up lights are installed. All internal wiring and it took a bit to take apart the roof rack and chase the wiring but I think the end result speaks for itself.

Light Bar;

Back-up lights (kinda hard to see)

I ran the wiring pretty close to what someone did in another thread but instead of putting a vertical hole in the top of the roof I went with a horizontal slot in the track.

That and I used butel window sealant for water proofing. That stuff is very sticky and it can be pushed into cracks very nicely. After putting it together I hit it with the water nozzle direct and no leaks. It sat out in the rain last night and still no leaks so I think it covered nicely.

Nothing as cool as seeing the day by day transformation of a vehicle. You are doing a great job!

Thanks guys - I'm susposed to get some word on my bumper Monday. It will probably take a week to complete the customizations I'm having done then to powder coat and I'll finally have a winch

Bumper update

Well there seems to be a delay in getting my bumper. The contracted engineering firm in Canada does not seem to be very interested in keeping their promised schedule so it may not be until the end of this month.

So I wait, not one of my better skills .......

Consol Power Mod

Well another rainy weekend another mod

Many people have talked about having more aux plugs and some have added a few in various places. I liked the idea of adding a couple of plugs to the consol so I can get the cord clutter out of the front of the console.

I did not want them hot all the time but I did want them to run off of the second battery.

So, having a number of PIAA relays left over from my lights I decided that would be a great way to switch the power on and off with the ignition.

But I also wanted to be able to have power to the circuit with the key off. Often I need to charge one of my handheld radio batteries at a mission site. The easiest way to do that is plug it in leave it but I wouldn't consider leaving the key on and it is a hassle using the hot plugs I added in the back.

And thus I added an over-ride switch;

Now I can flip the switch and leave something charging or whatever up front and not have to leave the ignition on or deal with the gear clutter in the back.

The only problem is possibly leaving it on or flipping it on by accident so I needed something to tell me when the override was on and a light back there in the pocket seemed like it would be easy to miss.

So I put a little LED at the front of the console, right up where I will see it.

Odd how the camera picks up a red reflection off the console, you can't see it with the naked eye.

Anyway now I can have my stuff plugged in and not have the mess of wires dangling for the passenger to step on

Man your FJ is really looking nice. I like how you are doing this all yourself too. How is the home powdercoating working out for you?

I wish I had your wiring skills man, it looks really nice.

My next project is a marine aux. fusebox either in cab or under the hood.

Yep, I've got a WARN 9.5xp ready to bolt in and a set of PIAA 510 fogs but there are tabs for four more lights on the top of the bull bar but I don't know if I'm going to add those yet.

Do you have a synthetic line?
I still have my Masterpull one I took off a few months back when I put on the new Winchline one that I bought.

Yep I've had the synth line sitting in a box since you started your post about the line saver. Wait until you see what I'm doing for my fairlead cover/license plate holder.
