My front axle is practically finished. I need to have my spindles, knuckles, and steering arms shipped from my dad's house in CA. After that, I need to modify the IFS wheel hubs, find some SA freewheel hubs, get the FROR tacoma brake mount kit and a Marlin knuckle rebuild, and I can fully assemble the axle.

Next week I should be buying more parts..

Couple more parts on the way.
Tacoma brake mounts and marlin crawler front service kit.

I should be able to start assembling the axle after I get those parts in.
The IFS hubs need to be turned down. I will probably do that here with an angle grinder. The Marlin high steer arms need the pins pressed out and the 25MM pins pressed in. I have a buddy who will let me borrow his press.
Once that is done the only thing I need left for the axle is some shock mounts, SFA freewheel aisin hubs (chromo gears will be added later), and maybe some misc hardware.

Spread sheet for remaining parts. You'll notice the amount I am subtracting is the after the shipping price. Might slightly skew my "remaining" number but oh well.

Literally. Once I get my tax return and my IFS diff sells, I'll only need another ~500 or so.

IFS diff finally sold.

Got the TG steering shaft kit on the way as well as the lower shock mounts for the axle.
Gotta wait another couple days for the Paypal to hit my bank account to spend more money!

The Solid Axle Swap is done! Please see that thread here:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f152...-making-278690

In other notes: I've got an order of 100' of 1.75x.120 DOM coming. It will be used for a front bumper and a great start of an exo cage.

Do you have any solid plans for the bumper or are you just gonna wing it?

I want to model it after my old 4XI bumper. I really loved the look of that bumper but I hated the approach angle. I'm going to get the budbuilt winch plate and go from there. Then I'm going to start off with a stinger going from frame horn to frame horn. After that a horizontal tube in the front following the lines under the grille/ lights with a tube coming from the side of the frame for some support.
Not hard to picture, really.

Sweet. They'll look good. I'm looking at 345/75r16s for my 88. I'm getting rid of the chevys in the rear and going with all pro 6" springs. and pulling a single leaf from the front. Hopefully, this makes it not so tippy.

Got my winch plate on order. Should work out great.

Also decided that I'm going to go with 37's instead of 40's. I know. I know. 40's would be awesome but they're just not in the budget. 37's will get me everywhere I want to go, anyway. And if not, I probably shouldn't be going there with my DD.

I have no complaints with my Treadwright 37s. Not sure if you're OK with retreads. but they're basically just a retreaded military tire and they're roughly 900 dollars for a set of 5. Rims are inexpensive too. Might be a good option since they're a cheap, reliable setup and might allow you to easily save for 40s.

I've finally caught up - read through every single page. It's been one hell of a journey. You Scuba, deserve an award. Never knew an IFS could achieve this. I've seen SAS trucks achieve less.

Just goes to show, set-up and driver ability has a lot to do with it. With an SAS, this li'l o'l truck, there'll be no stopping her.

Considering I work at Discount, I can get the 37's for a pretty good deal. Not much more than I paid for my second set of 35's two years ago. ~$350.
I'm certainly not going with treadwrights. Too many "out of round" issues that I've seen They're just not for me.

Thanks, I certainly appreciate that!
Now that the truck is set up with a beef front axle I can push it even farther!
