Rage469's 1997 4Runner Build-Up Thread - Project "MUD"

Just wanted to start a thread so I can kind of keep track of what all I do to my 4runner. When I got it the truck was totally stock and very dirty. The lady that owned it was very good on maintenance but not good on keeping it clean on the outside. I just cleaned the hell out of it and try to keep it that way. My plans are to eventually put 35" tires on it with the sport hood, 99-02 headlights, custom grill with FJ "toyota" logo in center of it, etc. Here are some pics and some things done since I got it....

-Flushed Transmission
-Flushed Power Steering
-Flushed Brake Fluid
-Installed K&N Air Filter
-Flushed Coolant System
-Replaced Spark Plugs With Factory Plugs
-Replaced Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets(Very Common)
-New 265/65r17 Michellin Tires on FJ steel wheels
-Rear Differential Serviced
-Installed 2 1/2" Daystar spacer lift

That is all I can think of for now....

Next to do is upgrade to 33" tires on some nice wheels and then sport hood with newer headlights...If not obvious I am a tech for Toyota so that is why maintenance is all done first. Thanks for looking and hope to keep updated quickly.....

Just got truck retinted with limo in back half and 20% on the front two windows....Will have to get updated pics..

Debating on just buying some nice 17" wheels to use the same tires or finding a nice used set of 33" tires/wheels for now and then lifting more later...This truck is just a driver and not a functional truck so I am going for cosmetics..

Be interesting to see how your rig looks with a set of 33's with the 2 1/2 lift. I just currently installed the same lift on my 96 runner and its sitting on a set of goodyear 31x10.5x15 and i'm thinking of upgrading to a set of 33 too. I think it would fit pretty nicely.

The 33's would fit nicely but I want to go 35's so I don't know if better to buy the 33's and ride on them till I can afford to modify to go 35's or just wait and do it all at once?
