The coil perches on the axle need to move to the center an inch or so. When you put the spring on the perch and hold the spring vertical it gets into the frame rail a little over an inch.

I dont know what I'm going to do fix this at this point. I saw where ErikB on pirate used the stock 4runner rear end and springs with a coil bucket on the bottom of the frame rail.

yeah i emailed ballistic about their axle side coil mounts and having them made wider to accomidate the lc/4runner springs which are 6.5" in diameter vs the tj springs which are 5.5 and they said it'd be an extra $30 bringing the price from $35 for the pair to $65. I am going to remeasure the springs and see if it could work without widening the plate. I also need to measure up the short side of the axle to make sure there would be clearance to mount it on that side

wait a second...i just re looked at your whole thread...you used those coil plates on the front axle...what size did you use and it looks like the coil sat pretty well right on there!

I had prepared the axle for leaf springs when I started the SAS but then realized the problem with the steering. I had carefully cut the coil perches from the axle and saved them.

I used the Ballistic Fab perches just like the ones you have pictured and welded the original coil perches to the Ballistic perches. I had to do a lot of grinding to get them to fit the profile of the axle tube.

I think rear axle is going to be a challenge/lot of work.

After being in our new to us house for the past 7 months I finaly got my garage built to the point I can use it, have'nt got the power run yet but its coming.

I welded the rear end in temporarily so I could move it from my father-in-law's garage. Here's a few pics. Now I got to figure out how to get the upper link in.

I took the Cruiser rear end back out and cleaned the frame rails and the rear end up so the install can begin. I will be using the LC factory upper and lower links until I can get the permanent ones made.

Got the lower link mounts welded out, gotta do some grinding.

It looks like I am going to have to put in a brace from the frame to the crossmember that the muffler is hanging from and put the upper link mount there. Not much room under there. This will require a change in the exhaust system.

The bolt patterns on the drive shaft and differential don't match, and neither do the LC coil perches and the 4Runner coil buckets (different centerlines).

Got the upper link mount in but I don't really like it, just looks out of place under there. I used the factory link mount off of the LC axle for the upper mount, I think it needs some bracing.

Here are the upper and lower links in temporarily.

Now I will have to get really creative with the exhaust, anyone have any ideas with pics.

Now it's time for the panhard bar.

Just a little comparison, 3rd gen 4runner upper link on top and an 80 series Land Cruiser upper link on bottom.

Thanks for the complement. I hope to have it trail ready by next summer, between working 6 and 7 days a week and trying to remodel this wreck of a house we bought it does'nt leave much time for the fun stuff.

Finally made a little progress today.

Used some 1/4" plate to make coil buckets for my 2nd gen 4runner MOOG cargo coils. Still gotta go back and weld them out and tie them into the stock coil buckets.

Put a 3" offset in the panhard and now I have got to cut it to the proper length.

Going to fab a new bracket out of 2-1/2"x2-1/2"x1/4" wall square tubing to weld to the frame and stock bracket.

Great work, this looks like its going to be a lot of fun when finished

for the exhaust could you just have a small muffler closer towards the engine a a turn down or side exit? unless your really intent on it being a stock rear exit that should work
