Mikes 98 Tacoma Build Thread

Hey guys.
I've recently picked up a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. I was kinda forced into buying this thing lol.. long story short, I like it. As a kid I'd always wanted a Tacoma. Never could afford one after Toyota did the recall tho.

I found this little Tacoma in Ripley WV.
1998 Tacoma
2.7 engine
5spd tranny
4wd
140,000 miles
3" body lift
Bald 31" tires
After market Pacer Wheels
Everything else is stock
This truck is really nice on the inside. No stains or tears anywhere.

This little truck has been on its side before tho. Driver side has a few small fixable dents. Nothing major. Right after I got the truck I took it to the local dealer and it Aced the frame test

I haven't got any pics yet but stay tuned. Ill post them.

This is the only pic I have. This pic was taken by the previous owner before it was flopped on its side and had the 33's on it. There's not much of a change in this pic and thd looks of the truck now.

Okay. I took time out to snap some pics of the truck. I haven't done anything to this truck other then replace the driver front fender and bald 31" tires.

You can see the damage in these pics

Okay for plans..... lol this is a wish list st the moment.

I was going to remove the 3" body lift. But I kinda like it. Everything is done right. Shifters were extended, and everything was relocated. So ima leave it.

A 3" lift will be added along with new 33" tires.

Possibly the 2.7 power package from LCE

Gears! I have plenty of power but ive got to replace these 3.58's with at least 4.10's.

Bumpers front and rear along with sliders

Of course fix my body damage. I found a new bed for 250.00 on FB. ima go look at it this evening.

That's about it for now. I'm sure more will come later on.

Well I really don't mind saying. I bought a 88 jeep Wrangler with a 350 v8 in it for $1,100.00 I traded it straight up for the Tacoma.

Yeah I took it straight to Charleston and had them do the recall inspection on it. For $10,000.00 it didnt matter to me if it passed or failed lol. However it passed with a A+. So since it was in this kinda shape I decided I'd keep it instead of trying to find one with a 3.4

Yes sir.. I bought it day before yesterday. Got it for $200.00 cash. The bed is black and has minimal rust around the fender wells. I'm going to use patch panels from my damaged bed to fix this one. How come do you need a bed..

For bumpers if you want to replace them, road armor would make your truck more indestructable.

I recognize this truck. I thought I saw you a while back in corridor G, but many people shop at that Wally World, so maybe not. Anyway, love that truck dude.

Does that frame really not have any rust! That's impossible especially in WV.
